Tune dedicated server in Hetzner.com
- Hetzner price is cool, for example in this case I buy server with 256 GB memory and 12 cores processor for E61 only.
- For working in Hetzner cabinet need to follow some rules. Firstly select server Server Auction
- Select additional hardware
- Select Backup storage
- First virtual switch to connect server will be created automatically
- Buy IP range. This point need so many attention. Because you can buy IP for main switch without VLAN. In this case you will tune simple machine like Ubuntu, but set up VmWare will be impossible.
- For VmWare you can buy IP range in VLAN. This is Hatzner wrong and misunderstandable manual about buying additional IP range Additional IP-Adresses.
- In reality for routing need to create virtual switch inside VmWare. So, there is main logical vSwitch inside VmWare.
- This virtual switch inherit: for management interface with VLAN_ID=0.
- And with VLAN_ID=4000.
- So, IP configuration of virtual machine look as that:
- Very interesting future is press Hardware server inside Hetzner cabinet.
- Hetzner has some Linux distribution uploaded to connected network drive. You can install it by one click in cabinet and will receive password after installation.
- Pay attention to Hetzner KVM. It has two mode of working (1) As JAVA Virtual machine inside browser. In this mode there is a hard reset too.Uploading custom image from local computer is impossible in this mode.
- And second mode of KVM is with local computer JAVA VM. In this case you can not opportunity to hardware reset, but have opportunity to upload custom ISO (need firstly open toolbox on the top).
In screen below I require second IP range and assign it to second switch.
Information about VmWare in Hanzner site is full wrong, especially about three mode Bridged, Routed, NAT and special nonsense about using to routing internal ESXI command like esxcfg, because ESXi virtual switches are basically Layer 2 switches, there are no routes.
