First before we begin using IFOEdit, if you are going to add subtitles to your movie then you should run Vobedit.  If you are not going to do subs then skip down the page to the IfoEdit section.  Once you start Vobedit it will look like this:

bullet

First, click on the Open button down at the bottom, and find the folder where Smartripper ripped all the files to.

bullet

Open the VTS_01_01.VOB file.

bullet

Don't click on anything in the LBA pane!

bullet

Click the Demux button.  It will bring up a window that looks like this.

bullet

Select the items that are described above.  Make your subpicture stream whatever it # stated in Smartripper.  In this case the default of 0x20 is correct for English which is the stream I will be using.

bullet

Click ok.  It will ask you where to save the subtitle information to.  It is preferable to save it in the same folder with everything else to make it easier to find later.

bullet

It will then go through each VOB and demux the subs.  Once complete you can close VOBEdit.

IfoEdit

Once you have your files that you need next you run IFOEdit.  It should look like this:

The first thing we are going to do is extract the original chapters from the original IFO file that we ripped with smartripper.

bullet

First, click on the Open button down at the bottom, and find the folder where Smartripper ripped all the files to.

bullet

Open the VTS_01_0.IFO file.  It will probably ask you if you want to make multiple files uppercase.  It honestly doesn't matter if you say yes or no to those questions.

bullet

Next double click on VTS_PGCITI.

bullet

Then after that click on VTS_PGC_1

It should now look something like this:

bullet

Next select Tools, Save Cell times

bullet

Give it a name and save it (preferably as the same folder with everything else because it will make it easier to find later)

bullet

Close IFOEdit and then Start it again.  Everything will be blank like the first Ifoedit picture.  If you do not do this you cannot move on.

bullet

Select DVD Author

bullet

Select Author New DVD.  This window will pop up

bullet

Add your M2V file which you got from smartripper (or other recompressing program)

bullet

Add your Audio Files which you got from smartripper.

bullet

Highlight the Audio stream and select the proper language for it.  The default is English.

bullet

Change the Delay in the MS to whatever you noted from the file created by smartripper.  The default is 0.

bullet

Add your subpicture file (if you have one) which you created in VOBEdit.

bullet

Highlight the subpicture you added and select the proper language. The default is English.

bullet

For Scene changes/Chapters, add the Celltimes.txt  file which you created with IFOEdit.

bullet

Select a Destination, and click OK. (The destination folder must be created before hand or you will get an error when you try to Author.  It is best to call the folder VIDEO_TS) It will bring up a Log Window which will show you everything that is going on while it works on creating the new VOB files for you.  It should look something like this:

NOTE:  If you receieve an error saying Too Many Frames try authoring again but remove the subtitles.  IFOEdit seems to be hit or miss with sub movies for some reason.

Once that is completed you still aren't completely out of the woods yet.  You will notice that it has 2 ifo files in the right pane now where there was none before.  These are IFO files that were created by Ifoedit for your new DVD.  Now we are going to give your subtitles the color that they have on the original DVD.  To do this we have to open the original Ifo file, so
bullet

We have to repeat some of the steps we have done before.  Click Open

bullet

Open the VTS_01_0.IFO file.  It will probably ask you if you want to make multiple files uppercase.  It honestly doesn't matter if you say yes or no to those questions.

bullet

Next double click on VTS_PGCITI.

bullet

Then after that click on VTS_PGC_1

bullet

Now select Subtitle Color from the top

bullet

Select Copy colors from this PGC

bullet

Scroll back up to the VTS_01_0.IFO that IFOEdit generated.

bullet

Next double click on VTS_PGCITI.

bullet

Then after that click on VTS_PGC_1

bullet

Now select Subtitle Color from the top

bullet

Select Past Colors into this PGC

bullet

Press the Save button and say yes to any questions.

bullet

Close IFOEdit (If you do not close it the next steps will not work)

bullet

Re-Open IFOEdit

bullet

Open the 2 IFO's that IFOEdit created.  VIDEO_TS.IFO and VTS_01_0.IFO

bullet

Highlight VIDEO_TS.IFO

bullet

Click Get VTS Sectors

bullet

It will should ask if you want to process all Ifo's.  Say yes.

bullet

It should then tell you all of the changes it makes and then have you click ok.  This will happen several times.

bullet

It will automatically resave the IFO file and you will have both IFO's relisted under the ones you opened.

bullet

If you called the folder that it saved files to VIDEO_TS then you are ok.  If not then rename whatever you called it to VIDEO_TS.

bullet

Create an empty folder called AUDIO_TS at the same level as the VIDEO_TS (ie not inside of it)

bullet

IT is EXTREMELY important that these folder both be in CAPS

You are now ready to move onto burning the DVD
